One of the earliest instruments found in our ancestry is the vivo, (Tahitian nose flute). Its vibrations and melodies speak to us on a different level, transport us into the spiritual realm, and conjure visceral memories of an ancient time that still thrive in our arts today. The vivo teaches us patience and determination, requiring those who attempt to produce sound to settle their hearts and control their breath.

Participants of the class will learn how vivo are made, tuned, and played. They will have ample opportunity to practice. Attendees will take home their own vivo, handcrafted by Aremiti.

  • This year Tatou Festival 2026 is located at The Five Angels Theater in the theater district. 789 10th Ave, New York, NY 10019

    It is just two blocks from Times Square and one block from Hell’s Kitchen.

  • Absolutely! Everyone is invited and we encourage you to celebrate Pacific Island cultural with us and your friends and family.

  • It is ok if you need to leave. Your wrist band will grant you access for the full day.

  • Currently we are partnered with SoHo 54, where there are limited rooms with a 20% event discount. However, you may be able to find places closer to the venue with slightly lower prices.

  • No, competitors in the Ori Tahiti competition do not need to pay for tickets to watch the competition. Seats are limited ticket holders will have first priority.
