Matari’i i Ni’a Ceremony No Papeno’o

Being the first year that Matari’i I Ni’a is being celebrated as national holiday, since the occupation of these islands. Matari’i I Ni’a is a change of season, and marks the rising of the matari’i constellation, something that has been part of Ma’ohi and Moana Nui culture for generations. It is a significant step into further reclamation and recognition of cultural traditions, knowledge, and understanding.
