What we love about the Jamaica Dance Festival is that they are making a strong and deliberate effort to better the community through the arts, dance in particular. It is a powerful tool of expression and representation. Bringing people together in a community through dance quickly facilitates connection in one of the most innately human ways - movement - and when done so artistically, has the power to bond people.

Our appearance was easily the first time that some residents in the community would have had any exposure to Pacific Island culture and people. We quickly learned there that there are many aspects of our culture that overlap peoples’ experience in general. One of the most prominent being the love of music and dance, and a pride in our cultural heritage.

What a special event to be part of. We were so happy to have been invited.
