VA’A ORA UNU CEREMONY
What an honor it was to be part of this historical moment and offer chant, hula, and blessings for the success of this new era of health for the people of Tahiti and the Islands.
Hosted by the hospital of Tahiti and the Haururu Association, the unveiling of the unu ceremony marks the merging of traditional ra’au (medicine) with modern medicine to better serve the people of the islands.
A significant change was to the name of the place from Fare Ma’i (House of the Sick) to Va’a Ora (The Canoe/Boat of Life) or life boat.
